There is eroding trust in many institutions but particularly with courts. A key component of that disputed trust is courts are believed to be partisan, there are serious differences both on race and gender approval of courts. If one can effectively build trust in the courts there is a reasonable chance fear of it will correspondingly decline.

In this session, Judge Kevin Burke will present on the importance of procedural fairness, including what the public thinks about courts and judges, a tour of procedural fairness, and practical tips to achieving procedural fairness. Burke will argue that measurement of data is an essential component of a justice system, including data on Was I heard? Was I treated with respect? Do I understand the decision of a judge? And do I understand why?
